A land of opportunity: Mongolia is home to world class mineral provinces on the door step of the huge Chinese market for minerals. Despite hosting some on the world’s most significant resources projects, the majority of the country remains vastly under-explored.
The pro-mining Mongolian Government is taking action to stimulate its mining sector and encourage foreign investment by passing favorable legislation in parliament.
The region really is open for business, and the Government has advanced plans to create a supportive business environment as evidenced by the recent “100 day action plan” released by the Mongolia Premier, targeted at reviving the nation’s economy by reducing bureaucracy, increasing mining and facilitating exploration licenses.
Clearly this approach is enabling globally significant resources projects to advance, such as the decision to proceed with construction of the massive underground mine at Oyu Tolgoi, one of the world's largest undeveloped copper deposits.
